Question / Help Oddly high CPU Usage + Stream stutter on playback

Hey I'm rather new to streaming so I'm not sure if it's me doing something wrong or what I can change to help. I'm a twitch affiliate with their encoding options also.

OBS Settings
  • 5500 bitrate
  • CPU preset - veryfast
  • 720p60fps downscaled from 1440p
PC
  • 1080ti ftw3
  • i7 8700k OC@5GHz (max temp is 70 degrees)
When streaming on veryfast preset my cpu usage is around 75-80% across all cores (OBS+The game running) but it looks blurry on the playback. When using the faster preset the quality looks perfect but the playback doesn't feel like its 60fps, theres some stutters and non smoothness to it with cpu usage reaching up to 95% at some points.

For this CPU I would expect it to stream on the faster preset without any problems, any ideas or settings I can try to fix it?

If your still getting high cpu and (or) gpu usage, it may be a bottlenecking issue.

I'll try it out tonight, l was getting these same CPU usages on my 5820K so I thought an upgrade to the 8700K would be some improvement is all, maybe I'm wrong?

My old settings seem to be working okay, I think it was just that one game in particular that was causing very high CPU usage.
