Question / Help OBS Won't Recognize Certain Programs

Hello, I'm currently using OBS 0.11.4 for WIndows to stream for my Twitch channel. I've been using many of its features to good success, and it's been exceedingly helpful thus far. However, I've begun to encounter games and programs which OBS refuses to recognize, sometimes even refusing to recognize the program while doing a full display capture.

The main game in question for right now is Killing Floor 2. It doesn't appear as a windowed game. OBS does recognize it as a possible capture for the fullscreen Game Capture, but it doesn't successfully record or stream the program even when specifically chosen. The best I've managed is getting a single still image of the game when alt-tabbing to it using the full Display Capture. So far, the game's support forums have been exceedingly unhelpful to the point of harassment. So I'm hoping there might be someone here who's had to troubleshoot similar issues.

Other programs, such as the emulator I use to stream SNES games I own since I have no console capture device (ZSNES), will fail to appear on Game and Windowed capture, but do appear when using Display Capture. Dungeon Defenders 2 I had to use in a windowed mode in order for it to work as well, and the resulting quality of the capture has been sub-optimal as a result.

I'd appreciate any help and advice on the issue. I've had success streaming multiple other fullscreen games and similar programs, so I hope I can continue using OBS for my streaming needs. Thanks!

Try turning off Steam overlay, it often causes issues with OBS. Also set your game into window mode and record it like that, full screen recording just doesn't work for some games.
