OBS Won't Function Through Switcher on a Modern Win 11 Laptop

Hello and thanks for checking out my post!

I am getting my podcast setup ready to launch. I've been using OBS for a couple months flawlessly with older Dell Laptops (7 and 8 years old respectively) running Win 10 with no on-board dedicated video. But when I try to use this laptop:

or this one:

I am unable to use the switcher. The problem I'm encountering is that the output basically freezes a few seconds after selecting the switcher as the video source. The switcher will toggle between cameras just fine, but the OBS software just shows a frozen screen in the preview.

If it matters, the switcher in question is the Roland VR-1HD.

I've gone through extensive troubleshooting including swapping cables and changing every setting imaginable but nothing fixes the issue. The only thing I can conclude is OBS doesn't work with modern laptops.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can dispense.

ETA: I just tried the native Win 11 camera app and it will not recognize the Roland, so this might be a conflict between the PC and the switcher.

How are your getting HDMI out from the Roland into the computer? do you have a separate HDMI capture 'card' (USB adapter) or ??

HDMI ports on laptops typically can NOT be used as HDMI inputs, they are output only
