I've only recently started using OBS to record runs of a game I am playtesting, and this is the first time I have used this type of software. For the first few recording sessions I was able to record the game just fine using either the window option or my laptop screen. (Game capture presented a corrupted image, so I never tried that)
Then it started only presenting the first screen of the game (or the first screen that was showing when I launched OBS - i.e. if I'd gone through the intro screens, it would "stick" on whatever menu I'd got to) - it didn't matter what I then did in the game, it would record my mouse moving across the screen, but nothing from the game itself.
I moved the recording scene over to my second monitor, but this started throwing up lag errors, even after following all of the various online advice on changing settings to increase CPU, to the point that it was dropping over 30% of the frames. Yesterday, I completely uninstalled and reinstalled OBS to see if I had broken something with the settings changes. I was able to record a full run of the game with no lag errors, and using the window scene.
However, when I went back in today, it was back to 'sticking' on the screen. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, including removing and readding admin privileges (the log is from before I readded the admin privileges, but it made no difference), and also tried with the laptop display as well. With the laptop display, it will work as normal until the game gets loaded (i.e. it was able to 'see' me typing in this forum, but when I then opened the game, it 'stuck' on the game display, even after I closed the game, until I changed out of the scene and back).
What am I doing wrong? I'm pretty certain this is user error (given it was working fine and then stopped...), so any help will be gratefully received :-)
I'm using OBS on a Win-11 HP laptop.
