Question / Help OBS very low FPS, but using very little system resources

Hello all.

I've got a weird problem with OBS that I've had for a while. This seems to happen with both streaming and recording, but I very rarely stream and 99% of my usage is recording, so we'll just focus on that.

Basically, I'm getting very low framerates in my videos. I'll attach my full log at the end, but the TL;DR:

23:00:27.705: Output 'adv_file_output': Total frames output: 45414
23:00:27.705: Output 'adv_file_output': Total drawn frames: 10228 (45500 attempted)
23:00:27.705: Output 'adv_file_output': Number of lagged frames due to rendering lag/stalls: 35272 (77.5%)

Now, what's very strange about this is that OBS is actually barely using any of my systems resources, clocking in at about 6% of my CPU and ~380mb of RAM (out of a potential 32gb).

It is able to record menus and the likes just fine, it's only when I start playing a game that I'm getting these dropped frames. But even then, there's absolutely no strain on the game and my system is still happy with plenty of free resource.

I've tried massively dropping my video quality, and it made absolutely no difference in the number of frames dropped.

Anyone got any ideas or suggestions?
