OBS, VB-Cable, and Facetime

Facetime currently recognizes OBS (v. 31) virtual camera. So the receiver of the call can see me but can't hear my sound. My sound is routed from my microphone to OBS and then out of OBS via VB-cable. The VB-Cable is an available microphone option in the Facetime settings, but despite selecting it the receiver of the call can't hear me. Note that this same set-up works in Zoom. I must be doing something wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi! If you're only using your mic for the Zoom call, simply select the microphone directly in Zoom; OBS does not send audio when using the Virtual Camera.

If you want to send your mic plus other elements (like audio effects) via a VB-Cable, you need to enable "Monitor and Output" for those sources in the OBS Advanced Audio Properties.

For more control, you can use SoundSource (on Mac) to route every single audio source exactly where you want. If you need more virtual cables, check out BlackHole—it’s free and allows you to create as many virtual paths as you need.

Thank you. I have the OBS Advanced Audio Properties set as you describe, but FaceTime just won't recognize audio via VB-Cable, although Zoom and other communication programs do.
