Hi guys,

I'm having one issue with obs, when i stream/record i've got stuttering because obs is using only one core and reaches 90/100 % usage while the others cores remain at 20%.

CPU: Xeon e5440

Settings: x264 720p 30fps 2000kb/s Veryfast

Thanks.

Already tried that but it doesn't work unfortunately, even if i choose one of the others cores only core 0 is being used.

*Recording desktop uses all cores and i can change what cores to use, but if i open one game starts using only one core again.

So, games can be single threaded or multithreaded. Single threaded games will only use 1 core, (core 0).

You can use Process Lasso again to force the game you're trying to play to use anymore except core 0 and see what happens as well.

Also your Xeon isn't a particularly powerful CPU, it's nearly a decade old now, and will lose out to even low end Pentiums: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare.php?cmp[]=1235&cmp[]=2925

This has recently been caused by the Avast/AVG "Game Mode"

If you are using either of those antivirus programs, make sure that the Game Mode is disabled.

If you do not use Avast or AVG, check that you do not have any "performance boosting" software installed, and absolutely do NOT install any. Programs like Process Lasso will do nothing but cause more issues for you.

i found out what might fix the problem

so for a while i was having the same issue were OBS was stuttering really badly and it would only use 1 core at 90%-100% and the rest were like 5%-15% and i would use x264 and for some reason today i decided to use DDU to reset my GPU drivers and update them to the latest driver and that fixed the issue for me

specs
I5 11400f
16gbs 3600mhz
RX6500XT (has no video encoder)
gigabyte B650M d3sh ac
512gb SSD

OBS encoder settings
encoder = x264
rate control = CBR
bitrate = 12000kbs
preset = very fast
profile = high
process priority = above normal
recording format = MP4
resolution = 1080p 60fps at bilinear
