Hello I would like to start streaming DJ sets. I just setup my Twitch account and downloaded OBS. I am using a rather old Mac - OS 10.12.6 Sierra. I also live in China. I am using a VPN client that I purchased through a friend (ClashX). He is basically a one man project and his VPN works well for my everyday needs. However, I cannot connect the OBS software. I tried to bind the IP address with my Chinese router IP but the software still wouldn't connect. I tried different servers to no avail. My question is; can I even use this software in my situation (by changing the settings on my current VPN) or should I buy a more powerful VPN such as Astrill or Express? Thanks in advance.
I sent this into the Discord but I only got this reply....
@H4ndy
Settings > Advanced > Bind to IP allows you to tell OBS which network device to use if your VPN has a separate adapter
Thanks. But would this only apply if I had a VPN client on my router?
In the bind to IP drop down, my Chinese router IP is there plus 6 strange strings of letters and numbers.
Plus. I saw on someone’s troubleshoot that next to their IP was written WIFI. mine says [en1]
The error message I get is -
THE CONNECTION TIMED OUT. MAKE SURE YOU’VE CONFIGURED A VALID STREAMING SERVICE (I have, Twitch) AND NO FIREWALL IS BLOCKING CONNECTION (I don’t use a firewall).
I ran the auto-configuration wizard with and without the VPN on and both times it says -
FAILED TO CONNECT TO ANY SERVERS CHECK YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION AND TRY AGAIN.
I understand this is a very powerful, open-source piece of software, surely there is a way around this? And I also know that many Chinese use OBS to stream on Western platforms so I know there must be a way around this.
Thank you very much in advance I have been trying to solve this for hours to no avail.
