Question / Help Obs+traktor+soundcard+loopback need routing help.

I need some help with routing from someone familiar with loopback.

So my audio midi setup on my Mac was causing my issues of being able to connect to obs. No matter what I ran through it, the audio failed to connect into obs and the logs were showing it was the culprit. I sprung for loopback because it seemed to remedy the problem. Audio was coming into obs again when I tested the demo. I may have acted to hastily because I purchased the program after it seemed to work fine but I forgot to do a recording test. I went to record a dj set in obs and both my headphone monitor (running out of channels 1-2 by default on my interface) and my main output (channels 3/4) are being recorded into obs as one audio.

For some reason the only audio source coming out of my interface in loopback is coming through channels 11/12 so I have those running into output channels 1/2 on loopback and audio is coming through. When I press the monitor icon in traktor to engage my headphone monitoring the audio layers over my output in loopback out to obs but I don’t hear the monitored audio in my speakers. I need some help with routing if anyone has the time. I have a streaming event I’m supposed to dj some music for on Saturday and have been spending the past couple weeks and $100 for loopback to remedy what was perfectly running for 3 live dj streams before macs audio midi setup decided to just stop working correctly,

I have the same routing problem in so far as I have lost my main output and headphones option - only one output option for all three. I've had a nightmare getting Traktor to connect with OBS and loopback seems to have fixed it - but as In say I've lost two output options.

I ended up going back and forth with loopbacks engineers and developers for almost a month. They couldn’t figure it out so they gave me my money back and canceled my license. I have found a work around but you need a dj unit with its own sound card plus a audio interface connected to your computer. I’m running traktor off the sound card built into the dj controller and plugging its physical outputs into the physical inputs of my audio interface connected to my computer. Then I’m just connecting obs to that output as an input/mic aux. The guys at loopback couldn’t get my monitor audio and main output audio to come through obs separate. At least they refunded me.

Similar problems except running with external timecode in my CDJs and my audio card is built into a Traktor Certified mixer. I'm losing hope on ever getting this to work properly.

There are a couple different ways I have seen people do this. Loopback is the easiest, but costs money. Look into building an aggregate device. I also let OBS pick up my traktor on one audio channel, which I mute because I can hear the time code. Then I use another with the aggregate channel and it comes in great. I have to reset it every time I plug into to play. So I am recreating the process in which I was able to hear the audio from the output, without taking in the timecode sound and controlling the volume on my external mixer.

Thanks for coming back. Which aggregated device did you use? I've tried aggregating Traktor with soundflower, IshowU and Blackhole and I cannot get any of them to deliver sound to OBS. With Loopback see comments from Dirtydigits above - I had the same issue with Loopback. I'm at the point of admitting defeat!

Justin, would you be able to provide more detail as to what exactly you’re doing, both physically and in the audio settings of Traktor, Macbook, and OBS? Appreciate it!

There are some that will route decks A and B to deck And make deck D live. That works, but it didn't change any of the rest of what I did. The traktor setting are here. I tried to use blackhole but I could never get it to work, and I set up 3 aggregates trying and failing. I also set up five mic/audio in obs, and just played around with different aggregates and tried and failed. What I noticed is that if I had traktor going directly to one mic/aux, I would hear the time code. Then when I added an aggregate to another, the time code sound would go away. I kept all my aggregates.
I turn everything on, then I go to my audio midi set up, and uncheck the boxes, then check built in output, then built in input. Then I return to OBS and reselect my aggregate that I just redid. This works. I can sometimes get it to go right away, and it is a lot of trail and error. Also assigning correctly in sound preferences.
I am not expert, but I spent a week trying to find any solution, and this is what came out of it. I hope this works for any of you.

Wow. I really appreciate this detail and pics. I’m going to try this. I plugged in an rca from my master out on my mixer into my 4th input channel. I’m treating that as like the “Deck D” and going to try to mimic some of your settings and see if I have any luck.
Again, thank you!

If I'm not mixing records and such, what might the settings be? I have gotten my desktop camera (featuring me) and a window capture of a Skype window (featuring my guest panelist) to create a lovely scene in OBS. Then I have connected that OBS scene to Zoom via changing my video source to NDI Video. Now I move onto the audio.

I have a:
Built in Microphone
NDI Audio
Built in Output
TKGOUP PnP USB Mic
IShowU Audio Capture

How can I also capture her audio through Skype as well as my audio via my TKGOUP PnP USB Mic, and potentially other Zoomers (depending on if they are muted on their end), while then making sure everyone can hear each other, too?

If anyone can do a screen capture that would be really helpful as I am a visual learner here. Though anything is helpful-- I really don't know what I'm doing here. But trying hard. THANK YOU!

I fussed around with integrating Traktor S3 with OBS and landed here in a very round-a-bout way. If you mirror your settings with those you find in my screenshots then it theoretically should work.

The downside currently is that my master output on the S3 doesn't effect the recorded or amplified gain whatsoever. This is fine for my use case since I am recording and would want to adjust the mixed output level.

My setup includes:
-MacBook Pro 14-inch, 2021, M1 Max, 32GB, macOS 13.4.1 Ventura
-NI Traktor S3
-Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 (3rd Gen) Firmware: 1644
-Loopback Audio
-NDI Audio and Video
