OBS to Zoom via virtual cable => crackling audio

I have quite a few filters for my Yeti microphone. I also use the webcam with a crop on it. When I send them to Zoom and record myself, I've noticed that I get a crackling problem with the audio.

I've heard this is an issue of sending too much data through the virtual cable? But I'm not sure.

Most importantly, how do you fix this issue?

I just upgraded my cpu so it's pretty decent.
I should make sure the sample rates are all consistent.
I know I can change the sample rate in OBS, but what are the other settings that I need to check - in zoom, virtual cable, etc.
