Yesterdey i changed my motherboard and cpu then made clean install of Windows 10 Pro. I was updated all drivers with their own support sites downloaded drivers. When I tried to record a game session with Obs studio with my new system all usb ports suddenly shut down and didn't come back. Resetting the system returned everything normal. But whenever i try obs there is again the same problem. I updated my system from Ryzen 1700 and Gigabyte Aorus X370 Gaming 5 to X99 Ultra G1 Gaming and İntel 5820K all other peripherals same with previous system and ı have never been faced with such problem with my previous sytem.

My system specs:
İntel i7 5820K
Gigabyte X99 Ultra Gaming
Seasonic X750 Gold. Updated version.
Logitec C270 Webcam
HyperX Cloud 2 Gunmetal
Samsung 850 Pro 256GB
Seagate 7200 Rpm Barracuda 2TB
Noctua NHu12S cooler with NF F12 Industrial 2000 Rpm
2 intake 1 exhaust fan working in Corsair Spec Alpha Case

Mektum, could you go into Device Manager, Universal Serial Bus controllers, and post which kind you have, and the driver versions? I want to establish a common part/driver.

In my case:
ASMedia USB 3.1 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.10 (Microsoft) (Driver: Microsoft 10.0.15063.296)
Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.0 (Microsoft) (Driver: Microsoft 10.0.15063.296)
Intel(R) C610 series/X99 chipset USB Enhanced Host Controller #1 - 8D26 (Driver: INTEL 10.1.2.8)
Intel(R) C610 series/X99 chipset USB Enhanced Host Controller #2 - 8D2D (Driver: INTEL 10.1.2.8)

Same XHCI controllers. Could you right-click on one, hit Properties, then go to the Driver tab and check the driver version? Likewise the Device description from the Details tab?

No other information, on the Device Description tab? But yeah, that's the same XHCI controllers and driver version.

@FerretBomb
looks like x99a has same crappy usb controller as my z170 mobo that was giving me problems

install asmedia usb driver from asus, not sure why you dont have it yet
Asmedia_USB3_V1.16.35.1
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/X99A/HelpDesk_Download/

you probably dont have intel updated INFs also
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/search?keyword=Intel®+Chipset+Device+Software+(INF+Update+Utility)+

support page for my mobo has firmware update for asmedia usb controller
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z170-K/HelpDesk_Download/

here are hardware ids from my controller
ASMedia USB3.1 eXtensible Host Controller
PCI\VEN_1B21&DEV_1242&SUBSYS_86751043&REV_00
PCI\VEN_1B21&DEV_1242&SUBSYS_86751043
PCI\VEN_1B21&DEV_1242&CC_0C0330
PCI\VEN_1B21&DEV_1242&CC_0C03

if yours are the same you probably should flash this firmware
or at least contact their support to confirm this is the same usb host. asus is known to have mess on their support pages for mobos - if its not listed it doesnt mean you dont need it

İf the issue is driver related then shouldn't it be more common. Only you and I face with this problem maybe some more people... I think the issue related with hardware. But I cant understand how it could have defected.

Could you find any solution to this problem. No I don't have Asmedia on my system. Only Renesas. But ı could'nt find the driver. Updating yours did solve your problem?

cmon how hard is to google your mobo model
there is usb controller firmware update for you also
https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-X99-Ultra-Gaming-rev-10#ov
there are two revisions of this mobo so choose yours - check it on mobo itself or on the sticker on mobo box
follow instructions
(Note)
Please install Thunderbolt Driver first before install USB3.1 FW Update Tool utility.

Mroczny_Gustaw, I have the ASMedia 3.1 drivers. Mektum doesn't/didn't. I may need to update the INFs, I'm using the latest from ASUS at the moment, but Intel may have updated ones. I'll look.

Also, both myself and Mektum are on X99-based systems. It isn't really a common platform, even for streamers; most go for the consumer-grade z170/270 chips. It's entirely possible that it could be an X99-only issue.

Mroczny_Gustaw I already updated my drivers with the latest ones from my mobo's support page and also on producers web sites. Doing so didn't solve my problem. 3.1 Thunderbolt drivers does not belong to Renesas. In my motherboard there isn't any asmedia chip.

Looks like force-reinstalling my USB drivers *may* have fixed it; I was able to record for 30 minutes without a crash. That said, I've had it run for 5+ hours without an issue in the past, so further testing will be needed before I can call my own issue solved. Mektum, try doing a forced reinstall of your mobo's USB drivers.

Nope, crashed again. Just took two hours this time instead of instant. On the up side, the XHCI USB 3.1 controller is still working. So it's definitely just the normal 3.0 XHCI controller that's crashing out.

In my system shut down occurs randomly. Sometimes 40 minutes after sometimes 3 minutes after running obs studio. I would like to learn if this is an hardware problem or driver, software issue. İf there is a problem with hardware ı am going to rma my motherboard.
