Question / Help OBS Studio won't let me record!

Title is explanatory. Whenever I hit record in OBS Studio the program would freeze for a couple seconds and then go back to as if nothing happened.

PROCESSOR: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7500U CPU @ 2.70GHz - 2.90GHz
System Type: 64-Bit operating system, x64-based processor
Graphics: Nvidia Geforce 940MX

Encoder: NVENC H.264

Help would be greatly appreciated!

The 940MX doesn't support NVENC. Use another encoder.

Using x264 or QuickSync didn't seem to have changed anything. I still have the problem.

If you are using latest Nvidia drivers roll back to 376.33 version
There is a bug and NVENC does not work.

Please, post log-file where you are recording/streaming with x264 encoder.

You are running OBS on your iGPU.

That´s why NVENC fails

Use Nvidia control panel to change where OBS runs.

Run OBS with the same GPU that you use to play your games. This should fix any black screen issues.

..or try Multi-adapter compatibility option (slower) for 'Game Capture' source.

And please, post log-file where you are recording/streaming with x264 encoder.
