Greetings!
During a trip to Osaka, I recently picked up an Avermedia Extremecap U3 with the intent of streaming Breath of the Wild on my Switch. I also picked up an HDMI splitter.
I came home (also in Japan), and plugged everything in. Splitter seems to be working fine, as the signal is still going to my HDTV. I installed the drivers and programs for the U3, and if I use their REcentral program, I can get video output on my laptop.
However, for some reason if I try to use it in OBS directly, it says "Signal Out of Range". I saw online that could have something to do with the resolution you have set on OBS itself, but I'm already set to 1080p (downscaled to 720p).
What exactly do I have to do to use this card directly through OBS Studio?
Edit: After some more searching, it appears that if I set a custom resolution for the device, it works.
However, now I'm having screen tearing and freezing issues. And it happens in REcentral as well, or it did. Doesn't seem to do it there now, but it does it ALL the time in OBS Studio...
