OBS Studio + Webcam Crashing

OBS Studio v 29.0.2, Windows 10.

I set up my webcam as a "video capture device" in OBS Studio. The program displays the webcam output in a window. So far so good.

After several hours my computer locks up as tight as a drum; mouse and keyboard become unresponsive, must power the computer down and up again.

Is anyone else having this problem or am I the only one? Try running OBS Studio with a webcam for an extended period of time and it may eventually crash your machine.

My computer runs for weeks at a time without issue. It's only when running OBS Studio that it crashes. I have tried using a little HP webcam and a Logitech Brio and the machine crashes either way.

I have a hunch there may be a memory leak somewhere or that the program is corrupting the stack, but that's just a hunch.

I downloaded and installed v 29.0.2 from this site.
You have three users reporting the same problem. The problem should be addressed rather than quibbling about a URL.

there are known issues with certain other virtual camera enabled software like vtuber software when used on systems with nvidia gpus with drivers newer than nvidia's 522.30

Update or remove the other virtual camera software or switch your nvidia driver to version 522.30

There is no "other virtual camera driver" present. Everything is stock.
v 522.30 is for Windows 11. I'm running Windows 10.

I tried running an earlier version of OBS Studio (28.1.2).
Displaying a webcam, it locked up my machine in about 10 minutes.

Using v 29.1.0 beta 4

I have had this program displaying a webcam for over 18 hours and it hasn't crashed yet, so maybe this problem has been fixed?

I'm going to let it run for 48 hours.

Having the exact same issue. My entire pc will crash due to OBS and my Logi brios. The moment I unplug the webcam it is fixed.
