Question / Help OBS Studio uses too much CPU

So I was streaming Fortnite on tuesday, and no matter what option I move (going from graphics setting from max to low), the CPU usage on my system is always topping the 100% mid-game. Since I always have the task manager running on the second monitor to check the process list, I noticed Fortnite uses around 40% of CPU, while OBS Studio also takes around 40% of CPU. Log from that day.

Also when streaming osu! (a game that doesn't really use that many resources) OBS Studio takes its good chunk of CPU as well, sometimes my pc even freezes for one or two seconds while playing, but I haven't been able to figure out what causes the ntoskrnl.exe process to go crazy. Log from yesterday.

Any help is appreciated.

9 time out of 10, People don't have a clear answer for your question, so they'd rather not reply than to reply and give you bad advice (it's happened to me before on another forum). Also, Most of the guys here are volunteers, and there's not really staff around all the time like there is for other program, so you just gotta be patient sometimes. There has been a time where I didn't get a reply for almost a week, but I ended up fixing my issue anyways.

Maybe try the community chat at the top right of the site. Usually, there may be someone there that could help

As for your main issue, I'm not super-great at looking at logs, but some things you can try:

- If you're on a "single pc", try out hardware encoding, as your cpu may not be strong enough to encode while also playing a game. Though I use a weak G4560, my CPU is freed up when I use my GTX 1050 GPU to encode, though your mileage may vary.
- Run in administrator mode
- It looks like your failing to load overlays, or trying to load a video/gif

- You also have a ton of sources all loading up, so maybe that may be something that's off with your CPU:
