Question / Help OBS Studio sudden bitrate issues.

been having huge fluctuations in OBS studio out of nowhere withing the last week or so, I get about 300 download and about 30/50 upload depending on the time.

been streaming for a little over a year with no problems with my internet and now all of a sudden I'm getting huge spikes and drops in my bitrate.
I run at 3000 bitrate with a custom buffer of 2000.

like I said, I've never had a problem like this before, or at least nothing that restarting the program wouldn't fix.
now I'll see dropped framed in the thousands and it'll hit like 10% frame loss.

any idea what I can do to fix this or at least narrow the problem down?
I thought it was my ISP first and they have been doing some work in my area, however my speeds have not dropped at all and I'm still getting at least 6/10 even through wireless and about 20/30 while wired.

Never use wireless when streaming! Always use Ethernet! Wireless is never stable. Your dog can walk by the wireless antennae and fart on it to bring your stream down. And even if you do use wireless, the bitrate settings are way different than what you should have for wired. Stick to Ethernet and avoid headaches.

Run speedtest to get an estimate of your download speed (realize it is optimal based on server proximity)
Watch very carefully as the needle climbs. There is a soft spot that it traverses up and under constantly.
That is a good number to use as your baseline.

However, speeds fluctuate and do so throughout long periods of time.
So take 10-20% off that baseline and use it as your bitrate to leave as slack

Example:
You observe 5Mbps (5000Kbps) upload estimate
Your bitrate range should be set to anywhere between 4000 to 4500

This assumes you changed nothing in your computer. Did not add any hardware or removed it. Made no network modifications. Added no programs. Nothing. If you screw with something in your setup, you have to go through the same process again to find the right spot. Document this process.

I'm having the same problem and I am using a wired connection, the problem started last night for me. I have 70 down and 10 upload. I use about 2500 for my bitrate but it's been jumping around like crazy
