Note: OBS Studio did not solve the problem linked above. It had around the same poor NVENC performance.
Because of the issues posted in that link, I installed OBS Studio to see if it would alleviate the problem. However, immediately after launching OBS Studio I noticed my FPS would drop ~10 frames just by having it open and NOT streaming/recording and having the preview off.
Here are a few numbers to back it up:
· The Division: OBS Studio closed = 89 fps vs. OBS Studio open = 78 fps vs. OBS classic open = 90 fps.
· 3dMark score: OBS Studio closed = 11790, OBS Studio open = 11010, OBS classic open = 11810.
So what exactly is going on? I tried both the x32 and x64 versions of OBS Studio and it had the same problem.
