Question / Help OBS Studio Output Lag

Hi,

I seem to be having trouble with OBS and OBS studio. In-game I have 100+ FPS and it never dips below 70 however in the clip (viewed in both VLC & Films&TV) there is a lot of lag and stutter going on.

I have tried many different bitrates (4500-7500) but that does not seem to fix the lag.

I have uploaded a newer log.

22:23:46.957: Output 'simple_file_output': Number of skipped frames due to encoding lag: 6388 (10.1%)
22:23:46.957: Output 'simple_file_output': Number of lagged frames due to rendering lag/stalls: 86 (0.1%)

The lag you're describing means that your CPU is overloaded and x264 (the video encoder inside of OBS) is not getting enough CPU time.

1920x1080 @ 60 FPS needs a lot of CPU.

You can try doing the following.

Where it says Recording Quality select High or indistinguishable quality.
Then set the Encoder to Software x264 low CPU usage preset.

That seems to have fixed it, only got a 0.1% skipped frames now. Only problem is the filesize now haha

Yeah i'm just going to stop using OBS for now. Constantly causing lag in my videos and no amount of changing it fixes it even though it was perfectly fine at the start :(

If anyone wants my specs:
i7-4790k OC 4.6
8GB 2133Mhz RAM
R9 290 Vapor-X
Win10

Both original and studio are giving me issues.

Gol D. Ace thank you sooo much, I've been trying to solve the lag issue for so long, but didn't know it was that simple. Thanks again! :D

What did you end up using baardie? I am having the same issue though not as severe. Did using a different program work better for you?
