Question / Help OBS Studio Not Recording (Solved)

Hi all,

So, I'm r̶a̶t̶h̶e̶r̶ brand new to this whole OBS Studio/OBS recording thing, and I've ran into a problem. When I hit record, it, obviously, starts to record, yet when I stop recording and check on the file, it is only a black screen.

The following images are of movie maker and my (more important for recording) OBS settings:

And the log is attached.

I'd love to use OBS Studio for recording as opposed to something like EZVid, but this puts a serious block on that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey,

I am new to this too. However, looking at your settings below I think you need to change your output file format (see the arrow below). Change it to .mp4 and see what happens.

Built in movie maker doesnt read .flv files, you'll need to convert those files into a .mp4 format, also switching the Recording Format from .flv to .mp4 will prob cause loss in quality in the video. .flv is lossless video and .mp4 is a compressed version. I've used https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/how-to-convert-flvs-to-mp4-fast-without-re-encoding.78/ alot and have no problems being able to edit my videos after converting.
