Question / Help OBS Studio .MP4 editing

I've recorded some test videos to then later edit before I start any real projects. I'm using MP4 as my output. I tried to edit the MP4 video in Windows Movie Maker. Found out there is no sound. (I've played the video in VLC and it definitely has sound) I've done a little bit of web searching on the subject and found that Movie Maker doesn't really support OBS Studio MP4's when it comes to audio.

Also I've used VirtualDub before but it only takes AVI as I understand it. I can't seem to get OBS Studio to output to AVI. I've tried to find a way to convert the OBS MP4's into AVI but it always seems to distort the resolution really bad with every converter I've tried.

Is there:
A) Anyways I can get the output for OBS Studio to be AVI or is there a good MP4 to AVI converter that someone can suggest?
B)Is there a better program I can use to edit these MP4 videos?

I love the simplicity and quality of OBS Studio recording, but I'm having issues getting editing started. Either or both solutions would be appreciated. From the other threads I've read you guys sure seem to know your stuff, so just point me in the right direction folks.

Thanks for such quick responses.

I tried OpenShot and when viewing videos in the editor it adds this load repetitive clicking noise to the audio of said video. I'm not sure if the end result would come with the added clicking noises, but I didn't go any further after hearing the added audio.

I tried Resolve and it works great. I found a tutorial on the net and I was able to edit a test clip and upload it to the net within half an hour.

Thanks again guys!

From the last time I posted I've been having major technical issues dealing with Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve. I noticed after every session of Resolve I'd find a random folder added to my Windows 'Video' location. I wasn't sure what they were for so I ignored them for a bit. Once they started really cluttering up my Video folder I decided to clean them up, only to find they cannot be delete. I scoured the net looking for a solution to this issue, only to have every suggested attempt fail. I eventually had to reset my PC as a whole just to get them off my system. I even contacted Blackmagic themselves and got the rudest customer service.

I still have no clue what went wrong or why DaVinci Resolve would do such a thing, but I know I wont be touching that software ever again.

Does CyberLink PowerDirect 14 work with OBS Studio MP4's well?

Also any other suggestion for video editors would still be appreciated.

It's not well documented, but they're Resolve's temporary files. They get stored in the first location set in "Media Storage Locations" in the preferences, which I have set to a scratch disk. It is annoying that the names end in a dot, which means Windows (being stupid) is unable to delete them easily, but they don't do any harm and Resolve will tidy them up itself over time.

Hey guys, I have DaVinci Resolve too, could you please share your workflow?

I record footage to .flv, how can I import it in Resolve?

Either record to a format Resolve can import, or transcode your .flv files to something Resolve can import after recording them. You can probably transcode with VLC, and .mov or .mp4 should work fine.

If you're recording multiple tracks of audio and want to work with them, you'll need to extract them to one or more separate .wav files and import them into Resolve separately.

Recently, due to my work requirement, I have tried many kinds of video editors. There are some very useful free mp4 video editors. Each of them has different pros and cons. Here I would recommend you to avidemux, windows movie maker to edit videos, and use video grabber to convert or edit videos as you like. They work well with me.
