I updated OBS and BlackMagic Desktop Video to the newest version and now the Decklink Output in OBS is not working anymore, it's set to the exact same output as before, it was working before I updated BlackMagic Desktop Video

Same issue here. Worked fine last week I updated today and now I have issues. In my case I can output either preview or program but not both and when I stop the decklink out OBS crashes.

I am encountering the same issue. We are no longer able to our primary monitors for our services through OBS since the latest update. Desktop display freezes on external monitors, but not the computer monitors. when the stop button is clicked, OBS crashes and must be restarted. This has happened multiple times since the 29.1.1 update was installed. this issue was not occurring before the update.

Same here. Upgrading to from 29.0.x to Version: 29.1.3 caused my Decklink input to be black. No errors, just no input any more.

I'm on OBS 29.1.3, latest Blackmagic Desktop Video version, using Blackmagic Ultrastudio 4K Mini.. 1080p60 output works fine, but 2160p60 output results in a corrupted signal output. Rolling back to OBS 29.1 didn't fix it.

  1. no log-file from a test. It's needed.
  2. verify the plugins you have added if them need to be updated. Every single time an update of OBS is available you have to recheck on this.
  3. verify the settings in OBS. If you used custom settings, remove them and test it with presets on simple output mode.
  4. verify the GPU driver.
  5. you should also contact blackmagic.

2. As far as I can tell, the Decklink Output function is integrated into OBS, so I don't understand how this is applicable to this specific situation and the fact that you brought it up here leads me to believe that you haven't taken the time to seriously understand what this thread and issue are even about, and that this may even be some boilerplate copy/paste response you have at the ready to post without thinking much.

3. No custom settings in OBS. Running with a game capture window full screen to output to my streaming PC via the Blackmagic Ultrastudio 4K Mini. The goal is to output a 4K60 HDR signal and I can't output in 4K either with or without HDR active and this issue means it is literally impossible via any method at all to send a clean, smooth 4K60 HDR signal from one gaming PC to a dedicated streaming PC. This was my last idea after OBS Teleport proved to be a bust after not supporting HDR. To further elaborate so you don't see my use of HDR as some way to dismiss everything about my issue: The Ultrastudio 4K Mini supports both PQ and HLG, and yes I have tested this with Rec. 709 output as well.

4. Ran DDU before this test and installed the latest Geforce driver on my RTX 4090, which is 536.40, but 536.40 was installed even prior to that, I always update my GPU drivers. I also did a clean install of the latest Blackmagic Desktop Video app, version 12.4.2

5. Contact Blackmagic when this device works properly in 4K while using every other app with it? Why?

Also since I started troubleshooting this issue, Blackmagic rolled out a new version of their Desktop Video app: 12.5.1. I've installed that now, and the issue persists.

Because they can do a more in depth investigation to making it properly work like they did in other issues with other balckmagic users.

Now,
  1. turn off HAGS
  2. Use a stable release of Windows (insider builds aren't). No support on this.
  3. Enable Windows Game Mode.
  4. Run OBS as Admin.
  5. A test recording / streaming is needed for the log to have any usable information besides the previous points.
  6. Check the plugins you have installed.

Hi, from version 29 onward there are major problems related to decklink output. In my case, I have a Mac, the only solution was to go back to version 28.1.2. It seems that the decklink plugins embedded in obs 29 and later releases have bugs. Obviously for each one the problems are different but, for example, as of today we are at version 12.5.1 of desktop video while the compiled still turns out to be version 11.6, as noted in the startup logs. I also tried to use the new version with the old decklink plugins but unfortunately I am not a programmer and could not get them to work. I wrote a post some time ago but never got any response, even on discord, so I think it is an underestimated problem. Of course all the other software I use with my UltraStudios works perfectly, so to say... This is not a helpful comment but maybe even with Windows going back to an earlier version could solve the problem.

Thanks for the insight. Going back to 28.1.2 made the 4K output to my Blackmagic device work perfectly. They clearly broke it in 29. But good grief I was not prepared for the load on my GPU. 10% jump in load on my RTX 4090.

Are there any news to this topic?
I am about to buy an Ultra Studio 4K Mini since this is the only option I know of, that can capture 4k60 on a MacBook. If it is not running with OBS that’s a dealbreaker for me.

I am also experiencing troubles with my decklink output.
I tried to stream in 4k60 today, but there was no way to convince OBS to output 4k60 without lagging and dropping many frames although I was using 28.1.2. 1080p works fine. When you state 4k is working fine are you outputting 30 or 60fps?

I also tried this with a 4k file at home to rule out that there may be any bandwidth limitation to my Ultra Studio 4k Mini when capturing 4k from a camera and outputting 4k from OBS at the same time. The file output at home is also lagging and stuttering.
If I output the HDMI input directly to an SDI output without OBS the unit works fine.
Unfortunately that way I cannot add my overlays, which is the sole purpose for using OBS at all.

I will try to find a different software to verify if there is a hardware limitation or whether this is a general OBS issue.

Did some more testing and included a log file.
My findings so far:
1080p59.94 / 1080p60 works with both versions, 29.1.3 as well as 28.1.2.
2160p59.94 / 2160p60 works with neither version, but the symptoms are different. 29.1.3 stays completely black, while 28.1.2 plays a stuttering stream with lots of dropped frames.
I would really appreciate any help from anybody that has ever managed to output a 2160p60 video with whatever OBS version that runs on an Apple Silicon MAC.

I am about to give up now.
I tried various version of BMD Video Setup with various OBS Versions and never could get the 2160p60 output to work.
I would really appreciate if those people who managed to get a Decklink output to work in 2160p60 could tell me what version of BMD Video Setup and what version of OBS they were using.
And if it is not the basic OBS version, how do I check the plugin version, that is installed with the different releases?
Again it would be great if anybody could give me a hint.

I tried to capture and playback files with the Blackmagic Media Express App using my Ultra Studio 4k Mini.
That both works fine, so I can rule out any of the possible problems concerning cables, computer performance, wrong ports, limited bandwidth, ...

In the meantime I have tried two more software alternatives (Mimolive and Ecamm). Strangely both also struggle with outputting 2160p60 while both work well with 1080p60 and partly work at 2160p30, so there seems to be some common denominator.

I have the exact same problem. No output after 2160p25. Right to the point where dual channel is required.

I hope it can be fixed with drivers, since other pro software can handle 2160p60 output and even 4Kp60 DCI just fine (e.g. Premiere Pro)
