Hi guys,

How are you? Hope you are doing well.
I have tried to find some similar topics here about setting some configurations according to my Upload and machine but I wasn't sucessfull. Hence I would like your opinion here.

  • Problem:
I want to start streaming CS:GO but I can't make the stream smooth.
The image seems to be freezing.

I have made some tests changing some configs but the image on twitch frezees sometimes.
What can I do to have a smooth stream image without freezing or choking?

  • INTERNET:

Yeah I know my internet is not the best in Brazil, but it's what I'm allowed to pay.. =(
========================================================================================

  • PC SETUP:
CPU: Intel Core i5 6600T 2.70GHz
GPU: Nvidea GeForce GTX970 (Gigabyte)
Motherboard: ASUS Z170-K
SSD: Corsair Force LS SATA3 120GB
HD: Western Digital Caviar Black 1.5TB
========================================================================================

Also I see that I have some frame drop (about 5%~7%) sometimes.

=> running CS:GO on background(only opened not playing).

I have two HD`s and OBS and most of my games are on the HD not the SDD since my SDD is small and I only use it for my OS. I have attached the OBS LOG on this topic as well.

Summarizing, what can I do to smooth the image of my stream?
The OBS Studio Configs are correct?

Thanks for you help.
Gk.

Dropped frames = network/isp/general internet issue(might be out of isp control hop issue to ingest server, etc.)

The game capture sources might be an issue for capturing. Someone else please comment on them.

From log
00:06:14.609: Output 'simple_stream': Number of skipped frames due to encoding lag: 169 (0.6%)
00:06:14.609: Output 'simple_stream': Number of lagged frames due to rendering lag/stalls: 61 (0.2%)
00:06:14.609: Output 'simple_stream': Number of dropped frames due to insufficient bandwidth/connection stalls: 6566 (23.2%)

Looks like you might be overloading your system at some points(see lags/stalls). But I don't think it's terrible since you appear to have stopped then restarted and didn't get any during the second test stream, and it might be happening while game is loading etc, keep an eye on it though. Might be overload from trying to view stream from twitch on same system that is streaming?

I suggest getting the TwitchTest tool and running it to check your internet connection between you and ingest. Also this guides which is pinned at top of forum ( https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/dropped-frames-disconnecting-lag-read-this-first.8870/ and https://obsproject.com/forum/thread...oads-constantly-for-my-viewers-but-why.18465/ ).

Since the big issues is really the dropped frames which are related to internet/network issues. ISP could be throttling, you could have a bad hop on the internet to your ingest server of choice. ISP could be doing maintenance. So many things can go wrong with the connection between you and the twitch ingest server.

Hi Ruhai,

First of all thaks for replying!! :D

Alright, about the dropped frames, I found the source it was the Server in São Paulo (twitch) that was not very constant, that I've made a test with Miami and the Dropped frames didn't happened anymore. So the dropped frame rate is resolved. Still I have the issue that the stream does not seems very fluid, it still chokes or lags sometimes even with NVENC. But I wonder that, is it my CPU that bad that cannot handle x264 and chokes?

Are there any alternative?

NVENC it makes me a better stream(less lag and choke) but the quality.... meh... Also some times I try to watch my stream and see who is watching and how is the quality on it. About the Game capture sources, I've removed them, and left only one now and I will try to stream and see what happens. But I still think that my CPU are not handling the demand game + stream.

Gk.

You might be having an issue with the multiple game captures in one scene. You only need one game capture per scene.

It is possible you are running into bottleneck with both cpu / gpu or one or the other. I would look at the new logs to see if you getting any more encoding & rendering lag/stalls.
