Question / Help OBS Studio built-in Webcam issue

Ooops bought her this laptop as I thought it would be good enough. Its really just for simple games like Minecraft and Roblox but perhaps I should have done a wee bit more research. Perhaps if we just have her play the game and record her with say an S6 phone? is it possible to nit this together using OBS ?

@Evie_Playz maybe you can use your phone as modem, mic or cam when it connected to PC (additional software required), but not as hardware encoder or so. Even hw hack is almost impossible - most of the phone's uses build-in ADC to manage signal from the cam.

About OBS Studio. If you see, in the log, dropped frames or status bar of the obs shows message "Encoder overloaded" - then you need to lower encoding settings or get faster PC (maybe with NVENC, QuickSync or AMD VCE on board - this is all what is supported by OBS Studio right now).

@Evie_Playz, No recording attempt in this log.

Anyway, try to run game at 1280x720 too. Set base and output to 1280x720 and see the result. You can try to record application like fr-043 (demo). There is steps: Game capture not working (under the spoiler) it produces same result and thus you can try all Studio's encoding options (see https://obsproject.com/forum/resour...lity-recording-and-multiple-audio-tracks.221/) to see the difference in the log by %% of lagged frames during encoding. If PC is too weak and previous suggestions not an a option for you, then you need faster PC to perform this recording task. And built-in cam mentioned in the thread cannot change the things.

Just registered for the forum to say thanks - this was exactly the issue I was having. In the Properties selected a resolution from the drop-down and it worked!

Hello everyone! I have found a fix for most people I think! So computers running NVidia graphics cards with Shadow Play are constantly using the face cam regardless of enabling it for use! All you need to do is open up the Shadow Play console (for me it's ctrl =) and disable shadowplay. This solved it for me! If you aren't using Shadow Play, look up how to find which programs are currently accessing the facecam!
