Question / Help OBS Studio Browser Plugin not always working

Greetings everyone,

the last few days I ran into a rather "funny" thing while streaming and testing some things out. The Browser Source in OBS Studio 64bit won't work for me ~70% of the time (while OBS Classic 64bit Browser Plugin works 100% of the time). And even after trying different things like reloading every source on scene switch as well as deleting every single Browser Source and then making new ones it still doesn't work all the time. The problem is also consistent with different things like StreamLabs and Restream Chat or other chatbox applications.

I also got a little log here:

Would be nice if anybody could help me with that!

I have a similar problem (I guess) with browser overlays. Usually don't work, but can start working suddenly after 5-10 minutes. "Not working" here means either not loading at all or loading static html but not loading external data, or failing in loading data.

A month or several weeks ago the same overlay would work consistently with no problem. Works in other browsers such as Chrome or IE.

Hoping some tips will come up here.

Running OBS as administrator seemed to fix my problem, although I did not have the time to test it more than once.

I always run these programs as administrator when launching them as I know sometimes it causes problems not to do so.

Another thing:
my PC was turned on the whole night and when I tested te Browser Source functionality it worked just fine...now I'm waiting and testing it every hour to see if it is solved or me (didn't do anything though)

Well now I know what causes the problem but don't know what's happening to get that far:

my brother and I are regularly streaming around the same time a day and whoever opens OBS Studio first gets the Browser Source working, the other one not. So I guess something goes wrong when two people within the same network are streaming at the same time? It only happens if both of us are using OBS Studio and not if one uses OBS Classic and the other OBS Studio. Apar from that the Browser Source just works fine as I noticed.

Kinda curios if somebody else noticed something in that regard (if any other person streams at the same time with someone else in the same network).

You're probably saturating your upstream bandwidth, which means no spare bandwidth for acknowledgement packets to web servers, which means web sites time out.

Sounds unlikely that a bit of HTML would be a bottleneck if you can otherwise do two streams?

In my case the browser points to a file in the localhost directory. Running as admin actually didn't make a difference long term, but restarting OBS has so far worked. So far, browser sources never work properly when I open OBS first time, but has so far worked second time round.

@Simes
The bandwith is no problem. Both of us streaming at around 1700~2000 bitrate and the maximum is at about 4.000 per person and wouldn't OBS Classic also stop pulling the browser sources if the bandwith is really at it's maximum? I even tested sending several test follows (via Streamlabs) while my brother was streaming and they didn't get through on Studio...still wondering why that would happen if two streams are still working.

@RCstream
Exactly but even if I re-open it several times it won't work while OBS Studio is active on another computer in the network. Really strange thing tbh
