Question / Help OBS Studio as video recorder within Firefox?

I've been experimenting recording videos play inside my browser (Firefox on Win10).
I need to do it using Window_Capture so I can get the benefit of Firefox extensions which block ads, etc,

Here is what I do:
  • I go to capture the area of the screen that is currently streaming a video in Firefox.
  • Then I begin a Window_Capture selecting [firefox.exe] as the source.
  • Then I do ALT-crop to just capture the video area not the whole browser window.
  • Then I drag that capture area to the top left of the OBS "scene".
  • I press Start Recording then 5 secs later Stop Recording
  • The resulting video is fine except that it it is not cropped - so there is a whole load of black surrounding it.
  • How do I shrink the scene so it only contains my video area?

For this specific use case you can change your base canvas under video settings. It will only suggest the resolution of your monitor, but you can type a custom resolution in the field.
