Question / Help OBS Studio 24.0.3 Failed to connect to server no SSL/TLS support?

When trying to stream to Facebook live I enter the required values for "server" and "stream key" then I get this when I hit "start streaming" -- "Failed to connect to server".

I generated a log here:

I see this line:
RTMP_Connect1, no SSL/TLS support

any thoughts?

Yes, you have installed a version of OBS there SSL/TLS support is not enabled. Install the official Ubuntu PPA or build it yourself if you must. Else contact the source you have installed from.

can you tell me how to uninstall this and get the correct install?

Make sure you don't have another version of OBS installed e.g. the version that comes with debian or ubuntu. They may not have all features enabled..

Thanks for your patience. I Went to the software manager and that shows OBS as not being installed.

used this to remove:
sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove obs-studio

then followed this:

when I reopened OBS I noticed that my old settings where still there (so the removal was not as complete as I had hoped) and the connection issue persists.

It does not remove your settings that way but thats okay. It is up to the program whether SSL is there or not. So - assuming you did the right thing and installed from the official PPA - it may be bug and may you want to create ticket on Github.
