Question / Help OBS Studio 20% CPU Usage Idle and 80% In Game Dual PC Setup

Hello, I am having an issue with obs studio taking up a large amount of cpu of my streaming PC I am using an Elgato HD60 Pro at 1080p 30fps ,6000 bitrate. It has worked just fine in the past and I am not sure why it has started to do this. Also worth noting that on the preview it looks fine but on streams/recording I will get fps stutters. A few things I've tried: removing webcam, using only the capture card as the only source, and changing the quality from best to better in Elgato software. Here are my settings and a log of a test I did the first bit is mostly just me starting my game it sat around 50%-60% when in the menu and once I got into action it went to around 80%. Even when I'm not in a game or streaming it often sits at 20%

I'm using an intel i5-4590 in my streaming PC to do the encoding.

Is your Elgato Game Capture HD the USB version or the PCIe version?

You said you tried removing your webcam but your log file only shows one capture with it still there.

video device: Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920
00:44:42.829: video path: \\?\usb#vid_046d&pid_082d&mi_00#6&922b294&0&0000#{65e8773d-8f56-11d0-a3b9-00a0c9223196}\{bbefb6c7-2fc4-4139-bb8b-a58bba724083}
00:44:42.829: resolution: 1920x1080
00:44:42.829: fps: 30.00 (interval: 333333)

Don't run your webcam at 1080p (unless you're a cam girl or for some other reason you need to webcam to be the largest thing in the video). Instead run it at 540p or smaller. A webcam at 1080p over USB can easily use up all the bandwidth available to the USB bus, resulting in poor performance like what's in your log.

I have the HD 60 pro which is the PCIe version. The trial without the webcam was before this particular log. I use 1080p because I sometimes switch to full screen scene. Also If I go a lower resolution It will cut off my arms on my green screen. I wonder if it could be a driver misbehaving. My other computer doesn't act like this at all even while playing games at the same time. I've read in other threads that sources could cause this so I tried making a fresh profile which did also not work. I have also tried using StreamLabs OBS and didn't see different results.

Post a log file of your own. The OP's issue (from over 6 months ago) was with using x264 encoding for 1920x1080 on a 4th gen i5. It's not capable of keeping up with that, even on veryfast.
