Bug Report OBS Studio 18.0.0 Audio Monitoring bug maybe?

Hi there.

Not sure if this is a bug or perhaps an issue on my PC.

I enabled Audio Monitoring to Monitor and Output for my Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI capture card, my audio monitor device is is my speakers (ATR USB microphone I plug my ear buds into the mic to hear) and my default desktop device is Line 1 (virtual audio cable). It works just fine after the initial setup.

However, after closing and reopening obs studio I noticed that the audio monitoring from my capture card would bleed into the desktop audio even though I set the ATR USB microphone as my monitoring device which is completely separate from Line 1 and cause a slight echo (Line 1 is my default desktop audio).

I found that if I go into the advanced settings and change the audio monitoring to default then switch it back to ATR USB microphone that will fix the problematic echo until I close and reopen obs studio and having to repeat.

I look forward to any helpful feedback. I have attached a log if that may help

I am also having this issue. I am using VoiceMetter Banana to handle my audio. Thanks for the work around Dorian_D!
Here is the log file for the session I had the issue in: https://gist.github.com/1086bea594a00faa1e6b4c8960f675b4

Loving the Audio Monitoring feature!

Bummer to hear you have this issue as well Viking Vod. I was able to replicate this issue on another computer so I figure it must be something with the the new update. I'm loving the new update for the most part, but having to change the audio monitoring device each time after closing/opening can be a bit tedious.

Long story short for anyone reading this thread If you enable audio monitoring for the first time you will be all good. After you close obs studio and then re-open it the audio monitoring bleeds into the desktop which causes an echo effect. From what I found the best way to temporarily fix this is to go back to the advanced settings and set the audio monitoring device to something else- hit apply, and then set it to your desired monitoring device- hit apply. The audio then does not bleed to desktop.

If anyone else finds a solution/workaround that would be greatly appreciated!

Here is a picture of the audio bug in action. After closing and then reopening obs studio 18 notice both desktop and my capture card outputting in green around the same time. If I was to livestream or record it would cause a echo like effect.

I made sure no other audio is playing through my desktop. Only audio that is being monitored is my sc512 cap card to my dedicated audio monitor device the ATR Usb mic. Again I made sure that my monitoring device is separate (atr usb mic) and my desktop audio device are completely separate/different source (default desktop audio device for me is Line 1 virtual audio cable).

I just find it strange how the monitored audio from my sc512 cap card is being sent to both my monitored device and the desktop audio device at the same time.

I hope this may help in finding a solution.

When the program is restarted it goes back to default audio device, it's a bug. Will be fixed in 18.0.1, which will be released when I finish the server-side stuff of the auto-update stuff
