Background: we only use OBS to record; never to stream. We do not enter any streaming output information because we do not use this feature.
However, we have had a number of instances where OBS would get stuck on "Stopping recording..." and never finish, so we would lose the file (the only way to get out of this was to kill the OBS process). We've recently discovered if someone accidentally presses "Start streaming" at any point in before they press "Start recording", they will ALWAYS get the OBS stuck on "Stopping recording..." error. We have tried to educate our users about this, but because the "Start streaming" and "Start recording" buttons are so close together, accidents happen.
Detailed description to replicate the error:
Leave streaming information URL blank in OBS.
Press "Start streaming" button.
A "Failed to Connect | Invalid Path or Connection URL. Please check your settings to confirm that they are valid" pop-up comes up.
Press OK to dismiss the pop-up.
Press "Start recording" button.
Press "Stop recording" button. OBS will remain on "Stopping recording..." until the OBS process is killed.
REQUEST: is there a way to disable the "Start streaming" button? OR fix this apparent bug so that if it is accidentally pressed, it won't cause OBS to get stuck on "Stopping recording..." (and therefore cause the video to be lost)? Thanks in advance!
