I'm trying to record footage using OBS and a Elgato HD 60 however when I connect my headset OBS stops picking up the game audio. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

When you set the game audio to go through the headset, it's no longer going through your elgato.
You need to have all the audio go through HDMI on your game console.

Forgive me for sounding like a bit of a knucklehead. But it sounds like what I will need to do is Play the game without a headset correct?

All current Playstation and Xbox consoles are able to be configured to have game audio go through the HDMI connection instead of the headset.

If you're relying on playing through a headset, you need special splitter cables (like elgato's chatlink cable) in order to split the audio in a way that can feed it to a computer.

That's the strange thing i'm actually using One of those, but whenever my controller registers something being plugged into it automatically switches it too headset output only.
