In the last few weeks, I've run into a deeply strange issue. Any time I am typing in a web browser, OBS randomly starts/stops recording. I sometimes want to look something up in the middle of recording or type a quick note about the game, so this has become a regular problem.
My only hotkey for starting/stopping a recording is `. Buttons that are not this hotkey keep triggering OBS's start/stop function.
The issue doesn't seem to be because of a single key. It just happens any time I start typing — using google's search bar, twitter, hell, it's turned on and off every ten seconds while I've written this. I've been able to replicate the issue both by just mashing 'asdf' repeatedly or 'jkl;' repeatedly. I've been able to replicate it with just two keys — take your pick, any letters of the alphabet — but I don't appear to be able to mash a single key fast enough to get the program to trigger. The only common themes seem to be that 1. it happens only when I'm focused on a web program, and 2. it happens when I start hitting enough keys fast enough. My normal typing speed appears to qualify.
Things I've tried that have not worked:
-Resetting the hotkey to start/stop a recording.
-Changing the hotkey to another button.
-Restarting the computer.
-Running in administrator mode.
-The "check file integrity" button. No problems found.
-Updating to the latest version. The error started on an old version since I haven't updated in a while. Issue has persisted in the current version as well.
-Making sure that I've clicked something other than the start/stop recording button last. Looking around, I've seen others have problems with Windows operating system triggering a "click last button" macro of sorts, but I've clicked everywhere else on this program and gotten no change in behavior.
-I deleted my hotkeys for starting/stopping a recording, then made new ones for pausing a recording. The exact same error occurred once I began mashing asdf, only now it was pausing and unpausing repeatedly.
-True chaos ensued once I made four separate hotkeys, assigning start to 1, stop to 2, pause to 3, and unpause to 4. Mashing asdf led to OBS triggering all of the hotkeys seemingly at random.
-In true desperation, I tried a virus scan, wondering if somehow a keylogger was what was triggering the reaction. Nothing detected.
-This occurs both in Chrome and Firefox, but I cannot recreate it in notepad, discord, or while an actual game is running.
Curiously, the one thing that does make the problem go away is deleting all hotkeys entirely and just leaving them blank. But the second I assign any key to any function, the problem resumes.
Anybody have any idea what I could try to fix this next? I kind of can't use OBS if I'm constantly looking over my shoulder to make sure it's still recording.

An addendum: Immediately after posting this, I had the thought to make a multi-key hotkey (in this case, shift + `). This appears to have provided a temporary fix, though I still have no idea what could possibly be causing the problem in the first place.
