OBS Slows down entire PC

Ever since I've upgraded one of my monitors to 2K QHD 144hz and attempted recording in 2K, it's been pure torture. Idk what else to do I've followed what they've said in the analyzer. and as soon as I exit OBS, everything magically starts working again. People with higher RAM (32GB) have had the same problems and no definitive answer. I'm just trying to create content again.

Try some steps Log Analysis and see if it help

Post a new log after changed some settings above

Don't have Game Capture and Monitor Capture in same scene
You only need game capture for when gaming, you can make a new scene if need Window or Monitor Capture

Try turning off Game DVR

Also make sure windows is up to date

The link above is broken. Likely it was pointing to: https://obsproject.com/tools/analyzer with specified log. See below.

I've tried everything. How a $1000 gaming laptop cannot handle recording in 2K is beyond me. The game I am testing out is the new Black Ops 6 and I have the settings set on balanced and the fps is not going more than 60 with V-sync on.

I also tried it on Resident Evil 2 earlier and it was choppy recording

Meant to mention before that I do only have one source and one scene but OBS keeps detecting multiple ones somehow. I've also double checked to make sure my windows was up to date, which it is, however it's says "not been supported by Microsoft since October 2024" .

According to the log file you have multiple scenes with various sources.
In the image you only show one single source. Do you have multiple scene collections?

OBS itself do not shutdowns sources from other scenes. This is done for smooth transitions between scenes. Sources not rendered in preview but captured and can be saved to disk as standalone files after compression. For example, you can see all scenes in main menu View > Multiview (Windowed). So, if you do not see it - doesn't mean it doesn't works.

To resolve the performance issues users usually starting from new Scene Collection with single source in it. Then, if issue is still present - user attaching full log file of OBS (at the end, after OBS exited, there will be performance profile data written).

Well besides my stream overlay and starting soon screen I've made sure to completely delete any other scenes. But honestly I believe this is more of an issue with my graphics card and new LG Ultragear monitor. Before I ever upgraded my monitor OBS worked smooth and I never had a problem ever

If you followed steps mention and removed extra Monitor or Window Captures, then you need post a new log from a streaming or recording session so may get help.

okay so I've found the culprit, I checked my Amazon purchase from 2 years ago and my USB-C to HDMI adapter only supports 60hz, and anything above basically cooked it. I switched cords out and everything is thankfully finally running smoothly again.

Thank you for your tips as I hadn't realized that Game and Window capture actually perform even better than my usual Display Capture.
