OBS silently disconnects, but doesn't tell me.

HI. Often times OBS will either disconnect from the wifi or just stop working, but the green square at the bottom will still show green and display my bitrate as 0. I'm still connected to the internet given how other programs are still working, I'm thinking its a problem with OBS itself. I have no other solution but the stop streaming and relaunch OBS again. Its become quit infuriating. Is there a way to fix this? Thank you.

Are you running OBS 29.1.3, or 29.1.2? If so, try downgrading to 29.1.1 and see if the issue persists.

I have been affected by the same behavior pattern occurring with OBS usually between 1-3 hours after going live, and finally decided to see if OBS was the issue. I was able to stay online for 7+ hours yesterday after going live using 29.1.1, so I am pretty confident the issue started in 29.1.2 (I went live multiple times yesterday, starting with 29.1.3, stream died after 1 hour, went live again with 29.1.2, stream died after 2.5 hours, went live a 3rd time with 29.1.1, no issues for 7+ hours, I ended manually)

Please provide the log file from the moment this happened. Lets try to see what is going on.

Here is are my log files from each of the 3 different OBS version trials I mentioned in my post
Maybe it's OBS but more than likely it's being caused by the wi-fi or lack of.
Not the OP, but I am connected via ethernet, I do not believe this has anything to do with wi-fi even if the OP is using it

If you're quoting this section as to indicate this is user error, please re-read the original post, focusing in particular on the section that mentions "the green square at the bottom will still show green and display my bitrate as 0".

I can't speak for the OP, but in my experience, the bitrate indeed shows as 0, as well as the stream preview is frozen. I most often realize this has occurred when I suddenly see "BionicAnomaly is now offline" pop up in my chat. The stream itself is still running, which is why you see the "User stopped the stream", because I felt like hitting the stop streaming button before either force closing OBS through the task manager, or restarting my computer, as this has been needed to stream properly again. If I simply close and re-open OBS when this occurs, I usually experience a frozen stream preview as soon as I start, which may or may not properly connect to the streaming platform.

I would encourage you to ask questions before making assumptions.

I should perhaps even point out after looking through this log more myself, that the part you quoted was not a real stream, that was the ending of the bitrate quick test stream I typically do before actually going live, if you look towards the bottom of the log, you'll find it ends approximately an hour after the last instance of
16:24:24.656: obs-streamelements-core: streaming start requested by UI control
Which coincides with my mention of "stream died after 1 hour" in my original post

There is a reason I didn't post logs in my initial post, because there is no clear "error" messaging that is logged when the issue occurs. I posted them upon request, along with a non-issue log as a control, incase there may be some other discrepancy between the first 2 and the last one that illuminates the issue in another way

Based on the log file you provided (and the constraints of what I know) the issue is outside OBS itself.
The stream where shut down manually after more than 2 hours.

A few things you have to take action:
The streamelements plugin use to cause issues. You should contact them for support on it or completelly remove it.

It could be an issue within your ISP and how it routes the rtmp traffic. Or you modem, router, network adapter, cable... Can even be Twitch itsef cutting it for whatever reason, including and not limited to a problem on the server you're connecting to.

Appreciate the info and suggestions. I jumped the gun a bit on the issue not occurring on 29.1.1, I must have gotten lucky on that 7+ hour stint, because its the only time since the issue first appeared that I've been able to stay online for longer than about 3 hours.

At some point in the recent past I turned on Hardware accelerated GPU scheduling, and seeing that come up as critical in the log analyzer gives me another option to test that I wasn't aware of before.

Back to running OBS 29.1.3, with no SE plug-in, and HAGS turned off, will see how things go and post again with the results
