Question / Help OBS setup for PS4

Hi.
I have gotten myself an elgato that I have installed on my laptop and hooked up on my ps4. I've downloaded OBS and as far as I know the settings should be ok. I've watched some youtube videos to get myself started, but I've come up on a few issues...

  1. How do I get in game sound and my party chat sound on OBS? I use my headset for game-sound and to speak to people in party. So when I am streaming, I'd like to keep it that way and not have to buy a mic to speak to my viewers- and since I play games where communication is important, I need it to work on PS4 and OBS as well.
  2. When I did launch a test stream, my viewers said that there was no sound (first problem) and that it was a lot of lag and it was slow on screen. Now, my connection should be fine, it is around 21000 kbps. So, my question is why? Is it because I most likely have the wrong setup on settings?
  3. Is there like a guide or something that tells you what settings you should have on OBS for PS4? I play (and stream) Destiny, Until Dawn, Outlast, Dying Lights sometimes Call Of Duty- and games my viewers want me to stream. But I mainly stream Destiny and horror games. I don't know if that matters? I mean what games you play and what settings you should have.

I can't remember any other issues for now, because these are the main issues and most important issues. To use my obs this has to be fixed, but I don't know how to. So I do need some help.

Hey there

When you play on your ps4, so you have headphones on? Now if you answered yes, do you ever recall your tv or monitor putting sound out regardless of you having headphones connected? When I started up I ran into this problem too. I wanted party chat and my microphone to be broadcast from my headset. I forgot how that worked though. The ps4 doesn't know you have your elgato connected. You have to have a way for your headset to connect to your el Gato at the same time. There's the chat link cable, or you can jimmy rig one yourself, or you can do what a lot of folks do and get the Astro a40 plus mixamp and that has a port that connects to your PC for broadcasting.

As for your laggy stream, your pals are most likely talking about your frame rate. There's a lot you can change. Go and use the calculation tools on the obs website. Also, change the settings on obs to output the video resolution to 1280x720, and 25 fps to help blend everything together better.

I use turtle beach stealth 520, and I am very happy with them tbh. And my TV is playing sound even if I do not wear my headphones, I do think, cant remember- haven't checked it for a damn long time, that other peoples voices as well is coming out of my TV when they speak. At least if I do take out my USB. For sure... But I mean, it should be another way around it? Not having to go macgyver on the whole thing...? Of course spending money is something that can be done but hoping more there would be another way around it, just on the settings for example.

If you have your sound output through your hdmi, you can listen from your Elgato (I think) or your pc. To use a microphone, you would have to use a PS4 camera as the microphone. Otherwise there is no way to do it. Elgato has a support post for this problem located here: https://help.elgato.com/customer/po...me-and-chat-audio-with-elgato-game-capture-hd

Theres not much you can do. I thought that I was going to be golden just from buying my HD 60 Pro but ran into a bunch of unseen problems. If it was made clear that it was this difficult to stream from a PS4, I'm sure a lot of folks would have tried other options.
