I've been messing around with the settings jumping from 30fps and 60fps and changing every settign around to find some smoothness. My computer CAN run 60 FPS and it looks good for a while but it seems to be a bit choppy at times. anytips ?
Here are my settings that I got close to smooth on 60FPS:

Output:
2500 Bitrate
Use Custom Buffer Size (unchecked)
Keyframe Interval:2
CPU Usage: Fast
Profile:main

Video: 1920x1080
Downscale (1280x720)
Downscale Filter: Lanczos
FPS: 60

Heeres what it looked like:

(It looks choppy at times)

Upload speed: 7

PC Specs:
GPU: GTX 1070
CPU: i7 6700k
Ram: G.Skill 16gb (2 x 8gb)

Any tips to run my OBS settings on a smooth 60FPS?

Overwatch without limiting your frames will put a lot of stress to the video card that it will dip the GPU-based performance on OBS. I would suggest limiting the FPS to 62 in-game or enable Vsync with refresh rate at 60Hz to reduce GPU usage.

Also, post a log that has a stream/recording attempt.

Im kinda new to PC gaming, i looked at my nvidea control panel and saw "vertical sync: its on "Use the 3D application setting" so im assuming its on?
the other options for vertical sync are Off, On, Adaptive, or Fast

I preferred to set to 62 because I hate to turn on Vsync, and basically if you uncap the framerate you're overloading the GPU which OBS doesn't like and makes the video choppy. Even if you use a GTX Titan XP on Overwatch it's still going to max out the GPU usage on an i7-6700k if it's uncapped.

I don't know the difference between turning Vsync on in the GPU control panel and enabling it in-game on the video options to be honest. Just remember that if you turn Vsync in the control panel on, it won't work when playing games in borderless windowed mode. You will have to play in fullscreen to use it. Otherwise just use regular Vsync as Fast Sync caps the FPS at double the refresh rate.

okay just made OW custom FPs from 300 to 62. and thanks for the tips! playing on full screen

Hi,

The Output 2500 Bitrate is low for 60fps 720p this wont give you great results on fps games, best to use 3000 or 3500.

Can you post your obs log as this helps with further detail. It sounds like your pc cpu is maxing at certain points potentially but without seeing a log from when you are experiencing this issue we aren't going to be able to help you without guessing.

Cheers
