OBS resolutions (image vs camera)

In my OBS video settings, the canvas and the output are both set to HD (1920 x 1080). Thus, if I create an image that is 1920 x 1080 and I bring it into a screen, it completely fill the canvas right away with no resizing. However, if I bring my HD video from my DSLR into a scene, it's initial box is smaller and I have to drag the box and resize it to fill the whole canvas. Why is that?
