Question / Help OBS refusing to work on my laptop.

This is an issue I have been dealing with for quite a while. I have tried numerous different tutorials whether it be on youtube, these forums, or other miscellaneous websites. Quality of the video is fine, but the frame rate is absolutely horrendous. What's even stranger is that when looking at the actual preview in OBS itself, it looks fine in terms of both quality and fps, but when I watch the final footage, it looks awful. My laptop has an Intel Core-I5 8250U, a GeForce MX150 (2 GB VRAM), and 8 gigabytes of ram. I've resorted to getting help from these forums. I hope this gets fixed. Thank you.

Thank you so much for your reply. This whole time, I thought my gpu was capable enough for what I was trying to do, but I guess not. I really appreciate it :)

So I've tested capturing while taking the suggestions from the guide. Unfortunately, there is very little improvement to the footage. I've reduced my settings from 900p high to 768p low. Is this really still my gpu's fault? According to Task Manager, only about 40-50% of my gpu is being used. Is there any other suggestions you have for me?

No output session in the 2nd logfile, so I can't see the impact of any changes you've made.

However that logfile still shows 60fps:

14:18:45.988: base resolution: 1920x1080
14:18:45.988: output resolution: 1920x1080
14:18:45.988: downscale filter: Bicubic
14:18:45.988: fps: 60000/1001

Nope, still 60FPS.

You can have OBS look at the logfiles to check beforehand if you like:

14:43:29.284: video settings reset:
14:43:29.284: base resolution: 1920x1080
14:43:29.284: output resolution: 1920x1080
14:43:29.284: downscale filter: Bicubic
14:43:29.284: fps: 60000/1001
14:43:29.284: format: NV12
14:43:29.284: YUV mode: 601/Partial

These are in settings > video. You have to make sure to click APPLY on changes before closing the window.
