I would like to use OBS but it always stops the recordings after 3secs. I checked if I have enough space.477GB should be enough. Also my computer can work with it.I followed the advises from chatgpt: except re-installing I did everything. My computer CPU was by 23% when OBS and the game Schedule I was running. I have 16GB Ram and a nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 6GB. It is not the newest PC but it should work fine. I need some help please.
If your OBS Studio recordings stop after 30 seconds without you setting a time limit, here are some possible reasons and fixes:
If your OBS Studio recordings stop after 30 seconds without you setting a time limit, here are some possible reasons and fixes:
1. Storage Issues
- Check if your drive has enough free space. If your drive is full, OBS might stop recording.
- Go to Settings > Output > Recording Path and ensure it's saving to a drive with enough space.
2. Encoder Overload
- If your system can't handle the recording settings, OBS may stop automatically. Try lowering the settings:
- Go to Settings > Output > Recording and change Encoder to Software (x264) if it's set to hardware.
- Lower the Bitrate (e.g., 3000-5000 kbps for 1080p).
- Reduce Output Resolution in Settings > Video (try 1280x720 instead of 1920x1080).
3. Hotkey Conflict
- Check if you have a hotkey set to stop recording after 30 seconds.
- Go to Settings > Hotkeys and check for any unintended hotkeys.
4. Auto-Stop in Advanced Settings
- Go to Settings > Advanced and look for any auto-stop or buffer settings that might be limiting the duration.
5. Recording Format Issue
- If using FLV or MKV, try switching to MP4 or vice versa.
- Go to Settings > Output > Recording Format and change the format.
6. Overheating or CPU Throttling
- If your PC gets too hot, it might throttle performance and cause OBS to stop.
- Monitor CPU/GPU temperatures using Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) or software like HWMonitor.
7. Windows Power Settings
- If your PC is set to power-saving mode, it might limit OBS performance.
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options and set to High Performance.
8. Corrupted OBS Installation
- If none of the above works, try reinstalling OBS.
- Uninstall OBS and delete the %appdata%\obs-studio folder before reinstalling.
