OBS recording of desktop audio sounds harsher/louder in video editor

Hello all- I have been using OBS to record film clips to use in video projects. I notice that when I import the recorded clip into my video editor (Da Vinci Resolve), the audio sounds harsher and louder than in the source. I have made sure to compare them with max volume on and without any effects or changes applied to the audio track or audio clip in my editor. Does anyone have a suggestion what may be causing the discrepancy? I also have no audio processing effects enabled in OBS, since I am not using it to record my own voice, but rather audio that has already been processed. Thank you!

Harsh and loud audio? Hhhm.
Have a look at the audio mixer in obs while recording. Are there more than one channel with audio incoming?
Possibly you doubled the incoming audio what makes it louder and distorted.

If there are signs of clipping, don't go for max volume in the source, let there be a safety margin like -2 or -3 dB.

Hi @Lychon,

Same thing happened to me. And it was because of double audio sources. Meaning if you added an audio source (let’s say “Desktop Audio”) to a scene (let’s say “Scene A”) and added “Scene A” as a nested scene in another scene (let’s say “Scene B”), but “Scene B” also has “Desktop Audio” in it as a separate audio source. OBS will not show it as double audio sources in the mixer but this creates the effect you describe.
