OBS recording itself?

I have search a lot but never found my solution. I want to be able to stream facebook live (webinar) showing myself and a page behind (ex. a webpage or slideshow). However, OBS keeps mirroring itself no matter what source I use. I tried to minimize OBS with no effect.

Can anyone help or send a link how to set up sources, so the endless mirroring doesn't occur. I have looked A LOT on other threads(videos), with NO solution

The mirror effect will only take place if you use display capture and have OBS open on the monitor you capture with display capture. It's a natural cause: you're capturing the desktop, and the OBS Studio window is on that desktop, so it captures the OBS Studio window. The OBS Studio window contains a preview of the captured source, so you see the display capture source in the preview, which contains a capture of the OBS Studio window. And so on.

As soon as you move the OBS window to a secondary monitor, this effect is gone. Or if you remove the display capture source and capture your app with window capture or game capture directly. Or if you minimize OBS.

Usually, that's not an issue. You can setup your sources regardless of the mirrored screen. As soon as you start your real recording, you will put that into the foreground and put OBS in the background, so you see your real app and not the OBS window. It might help to not maximize the OBS window but instead make it as small as possible, if you have only one monitor. The first click of some people after they started an app start is maximizing the app, but with OBS this is not always useful, especially if you have only one monitor.
