OBS performing substantially worse than Slobs (new to forum)

Hey everyone, 2 bullet points before I start. It's my first time on the forum, so forgive me if this is covered somewhere else and is a dead horse. Also, I saw the thread about posting logs but I don't know how to do that. I have been streaming for about a year. Initially I started using OBS but had performance issues so I went to slobs, did not have those same issues and have used it since. With everything coming out about Slobs and their misdeads and shit business practices, I, like many others, wanted to leave and go to OBS. But I am having the same issues. The settings, are exactly the same as slobs, down to even the smallest items. They are truly a 1:1 copy. OBS is performing way worse. My streams are stuttering, as well as seeming less clear even though everything is set the same. I have tried everything I know to try and have had no luck in fixing it. So for now I am forced to continue using Slobs. I have a 5800x and a Founders Edition 3070, It's not a hardware or internet issue, as I said Slobs has no problem, honestly I can even bump up the quality and it would still perform fine. Looking for any and all advice and guidance I can get. Thank you for your time.

Welcome back!

Well, we WILL need to see a logfile to be able to troubleshoot and diagnose the problem. Hard-stop, NEED. There's a pinned thread at the top of this forum with steps on how to post one.
Short version, start OBS, go stream/record for at least 30 seconds, make sure the problem happens, stop record/streaming, go to the Help menu, Log Files, Upload Current Logfile, and paste the URL it gives you here.

That said, SLOBS is literally OBS Studio with the front-end hacksawed off and a webpage slapped over the hole. So if you're using the same settings, you'll get the same results with Studio... and less overhead without having the webpage crapping things up, and without the memory leaks the SL coders introduced.

Thanks for the explanation on the log file, I had no idea how to do it. That being said, aside from small things like volume being higher or lower compared to my slob settings, are the same. Resolutions, both canvas and output, scaling, bitrate, encoder type, quality sections (max performance), profile, audio bitrate, input and output devices, capture methods, etc. are all the same. I know this is still useless so I will get the log file after work, thanks for your response.

you guys wont believe this but i ran home and did a quick test stream, and the problem was way less frequent than normal. I wouldn't have taken the time to make the post if it wasn't something was legitimately adversely affecting my stream quality. While infrequent, here is the log file from the short test I did. When I get home I will do a proper one with my normal gaming environment, this was thrown together quick for testing purposes. Let me know if you see anything that stands out, thanks so much.

I have put my log file up, if anyone sees anything worth mentioning please let me know, thanks for all your help.

Thank for your reply, you are not the first person to mention the admin thing to me, so I will definitely do that. As far as the dvr option, i didn't realize that was still turned on, I thought I had disabled that when I first built the PC, I have tried both a fresh set up as well as importing from SLOBS and had the same issue. Thank you for your reply.

As noted, running OBS as Admin can cut down on GPU-overload rendering delays.
Also, as you're using NVENC, it's advised to disable Psychovisual Tuning (also disable Lookahead and not using the Max Quality preset, but you already aren't) as it uses CUDA cores which can cause encoding lag even on systems that should be running perfectly.

You also appear to be using a Display Capture, which is strongly advised-against; it's the least performant capture method, and can cause rendering lag and other performance issues when a DC is in the same scene as a Window or Game Capture, even if it's not visible. Game Capture or Window Capture perform more smoothly and are preferred whenever possible.

But yeah, from that logfile it just looks like your game is using up all the GPU time and OBS isn't able to do its housekeeping tasks. Running OBS as Admin will probably fix the problem.

Greetings All - Been reading this thread and have to say I also am an OBS to SLOBS to OBS user. I have been streaming for nearly a decade and also use a paid version of X-Split, but its a resource hog.

Now, I am not wanting to hijack the thread so forgive me. My only issue with OBS Studio is with NDI Skype. In SLOBS, what I see in skype is timed exactly with what I see in SLOBS. When I have the exact same settings in OBS Studio the input from NDI Skype is delayed and makes for a bad stream experience for our viewers.

Any thoughts?...and again sorry if this hijacks as it was a SLOB to OBS thread so I figured I would jump in.

I don't know about xsplit but OBS kills SLOBS from the start with the fact that he has scripting support ( lua, python ), look at how many and great plugins there are in the forum where he is SLOBS with his donate stuff trash.

p.s. just one streamfx (plugin) much worth it
