OBS output is unwatchable: frozen/laggy video

Hello,

I'm trying to use OBS on my laptop and I am having a weird issue. I know my computer is fairly weak, however I would appreciate any help that could be given.

First of all, I will begin to start filming the recording, and I get the 'Encoding Overloaded!' error in the bottom right, however the FPS shows at around 50-60 frames. When I stop recording and watch the video, the first second is fine, however the remainder of it is either really laggy or completely frozen and unwatchable, meanwhile the audio is fine.

I have tried using mkv instead of mp4, setting bitrate to 2500 and recording in 720p however I still get the same problem.

My log file is here: https://obsproject.com/logs/ZFZm3weK40zTXJc7 (looking at it I see that there is a large number of skipped frames but I'm unsure on what to do with that)

This CPU is reasonably powerful but what lets it down is the lack of a GPU and only 4GB RAM. I've asked this question before but perhaps now I have more experience I have explained it better.

I'd like this to be fixed ASAP, because otherwise I'm going to have to continue using some online screen recorder (which does work but is a bit annoying compared OBS).

Any help is appreciated,
Oliver

Your system isn't even remotely powerful enough to do any 720p recording, or with 60 fps. Try half or a quarter of the resolution, and 30 or 15 fps.
The CPU isn't "reasonably powerful", it's among the weakest that will barely run Windows 10. The system isn't suited to do the extremely resource intensive work of life video recording.

That's a real shame, I really wanted to use OBS over the weird online one but I guess I can't. Although I'm open to any suggestions if any arise.
