OBS only records desktop audio in the 1st instance of a recording/stream after I open it

Immediately after opening OBS, if I record or stream then the desktop audio is totally fine, but if I stop the stream and start again or if I make another recording there's no desktop audio. I'm 100% certain I'm using the right device and the right channels and I updated OBS less than an hour ago. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Read this thread I think you have the same problem.

Obs not playing desktop audio.

I noticed this issue recently. Whenever I stream there is no desktop audio playing through the stream. OBS is registering that audio is playing as well. My mic gets picked up and played though. Originally I thought I had fixed it. It worked for a stream with no issues but it just started...
