OBS only detects one monitor, but it's the auxiliary moniter

I recently got OBS studio to use to stream Minecraft. I use a laptop and I did notice while setting OBS up that it only detected the screen I had plugged in through HDMI. which didn't serve as a problem at the time because I could just move my game over to that monitor. however since then, I had to get rid of the monitor and now I'm having a problem where it only detects the display I originally had selected, labeled "display 1" despite not being my laptop's primary display. I have seen a lot of threads here about problems getting OBS to recognize new displays but never the original display, this problem is just leaving me scratching my head.

I have exactly the same problem running an external Monitor which is on the list and connected to my Lenovo P53 Laptop which is not on the list of available screens for capture. Anyone has an idea what this could be? Grafics driver issues?

Do you laptops have a CPU with embedded GPU (typically Intel) and also have a dedicated GPU?
if yes, look up the guides on this site to OBS config for laptops with dual GPU
