OBS used to run like a dream on Mac back in the day. What is up with it now? It just doesn’t work at all. You need to fix this ASAP and stop leaving those of us in the Mac community behind!
When I create a new scene and try to add my Elgato as the Video Capture Device, it doesn’t show up. Only my webcam shows up. What’s confusing is that this is how everyone else on the planet seems to be adding their game capture devices. Every forum and YouTube video, it’s done this way. Scene/Video Capture Device/Elgato.

For me (on Mac), I have to add it by adding Window Capture, which doesn’t make sense because window capture is for adding the browser of other desktop apps. This was a previous version of OBS.

This is how I’ve added it in the past, but now, when I try to add it to a new scene, it doesn't come up at all! This is the most current version of OBS as of today. The options you see here makes more sense because Game Capture really shouldn’t have been listed here in the first place.

But back to my main problem. When I try to add my Elgato via Video Capture Device, it doesn’t show up!
I won't even get into the game audio capture problems because this first part is just insane!

When is this going to be fixed? IT’S 2023!!!

Here are the details of my hardware and software. My Mac is more than capable. As I said before, I was able to run OBS on much older hardware than what I currently have.

Please help! Something needs to be done! This is just ridiculous! I stopped using OBS because this is just nonsensical. For years I just streamed from my Elgato, but (as I’m sure you all know) it lacks in features. I want to start using OBS again to enhance my streams. Somebody, please get on this. This is so frustrating!

At this point would straight up pay someone to tell me the fix. I’ve wasted to much time surfing trying to fix this problem. And the problem is that this just doesn’t work…and it won’t until enough people complain about it!

Thanks in advance.

Can you go back to that version without asking to get hacked? (modern security patches)

You need to fix this ASAP
We don't *need* to do anything. OBS is free, no warranty, and both made and supported by volunteers. If that doesn't suit you, use something else that does.

Generally with this sort of thing, unless there's a well-known workaround, support is slow and may seem non-existent for a while. If you MUST have a solution NOW, that's entirely on you.

If you think the code needs to be changed, go download it yourself, tweak it to your liking, and build your own custom version from that. That's what "open-source" means. Then if you want to support the community, offer your changes to be included in the official version.

Hey, thanks for your input. I’m not a coder or a dev. I know nothing about tweaking an application like this. Otherwise, I would.
I’m just airing my frustration. That’s all that I can do. So I’ll go back to using Elgato, just like I have been all these years. I have no other choice. And maybe in 5-10 years, OBS on Mac will work.
