Question / Help OBS not saving recordings

I am totally new to OBS.

Used it for five minutes the other day and it seemed okay. I recorded a couple of minutes and played it back, no problem.
I set the hotkeys for record and end record.

Today it seems okay except it doesnt make a recording file.

There's nothing else to do but 'stop recording', is there? And then file saving should be automatic?

Well it is not happening. Probably I should do a reinstall. I might do that while I'm waiting to hear back.

Here's the log from the last session:

Log is incomplete. It shows neither a recording attempt nor the shutdown sequence at the end of a log. Please post a complete log file that shows a recording attempt that exhibits this issue. You can either attach the log file to your forum post or use OBS Studio's built-in upload function.

Yep, sorry about that. I saw it wasn't good but to me that was symptomatic of what was going on so I sent it. Then I reinstalled OBS and now everything seems fine.

Seems fine but I see the log seems to suggest everything is not quite perfect:

I don't know why 'running as admi: false' I installed the thing whilst logged on as admin. Don't know why it can't find VLC, it is on the machine and functioning perfectly.

You have to run OBS Studio as an admin to be "running as admin". Installing it as an admin doesn't matter.

OBS Studio only finds the VLC that it shares its bitness/architecture with (32-bit/64-bit).

If your recordings are saving now, then your problem seems to be solved.

I am always logged on as admin - that doesn't mean that everything I run is run as admin?

I will see if I can match VLC with OBS. Does it matter much?

Yep, I'm getting along fine now. It is a wonderful piece of software and I'm grateful for it.

:)

Logging in as an admin user is not the same as the hidden/system "administrator" Windows account or running a process in an elevated privilege context. The "run as administrator" option runs that process with elevated privileges, which can be required in some cases.

Matching VLC to OBS only matters if you want to use the VLC Source in OBS Studio.

Hmm, I should have realised that, shouldn't I? I'm always admin but if I want an admin cmd prompt I have to ask for it. Thanks.
