When I try to record certain games with OBS, the game seems to not run well and it lags despite me having quite a good Laptop however I am not very good with hardware stuff. I want my recordings to run at 60FPS at 1080p/720p but for some reason I cant get that..

Games that didn't work: Citra 3DS Emulator, Dolphin Emulator and Overwatch

Games that worked: Terraria

When recording gameplay i use display capture in case that helps..

People have been telling me it is because I am using a Laptop and I am worried that is the case because I want to produce good content and I spent all my money on this Laptop..

Help/Advice would be highly appreciated!

You really shouldn't be using display capture to capture games. You need to use game capture and make sure obs is running on your nvidia gpu.

I have tried using game capture however I cant seem to find the game even though I have the game open. I also tried doing it through specific window and I had no luck.. I assumed it was only if you owned a capture card or something.

Capture cards are video capture devices. You NEVER use game capture source for them.

Run OBS as admin AND set OBS to run on the nvidia gpu in the nvidia control panel.

OBS NEEDS to be on the nvidia not on the integrated.

Awesome thank you so so so much for the help, everything runs perfectly! I got one last question, will streaming (with good internet) and recording higher end games be okay as well?
