OBS not restarting stream after network or camera power failure

Hello, I’m facing an issue with OBS while streaming live to YouTube. After a network disruption or power failure, my camera disconnects. When the camera reconnects, OBS does not automatically restart the stream, even though I have selected the option "Restart playback when the source becomes active."

Here’s what happens:

  • After the camera disconnects and reconnects (e.g., after a network or power failure), OBS does not automatically reconnect to the camera.
  • The only way for OBS to reconnect to the camera and resume the stream is if I manually open and close the "source" within OBS, or if I completely close and reopen the OBS application.
  • If I stop and start the stream within OBS, it does not reconnect to the camera, and the stream does not resume.
  • Once I reopen OBS or the source, the camera is reconnected, and the stream restarts without issue.
Here is a summary of my configuration:

  • Source: RTSP feed from an IP camera
  • OBS settings: "Restart playback when source becomes active" is enabled
  • RTSP URL: rtsp://admin:password@192.168.1.200:554/h265Preview_01_main (camera IP and credentials are replaced for privacy)
  • Stream destination: Live streaming to YouTube
I’ve checked the settings, and it seems that OBS is not automatically handling the reconnection after the camera is reactivated. I would appreciate any guidance on how to resolve this issue so that the stream can restart automatically after disconnections, without needing to manually intervene.

Thanks in advance for your help!

We are experiencing the exact same issue! Did you find any workable solution yet? Maybe we can automate the steps needed to reconnect the stream? Essentially, it just means clicking the properties of the stream source, and then clicking OK. Right?
