Question / Help OBS not recognizing second camera when running (URGENT)!!!

Tried posting about this before: I have two different cameras hooked up to OBS. Two different models of Logitech camera, the c920 and the c615. I've had previous issues with OBS not recognizing one of the two cameras, but at a point it started to work normally, recognizing both.

Now, I am having the same issue all over again. One camera goes unrecognized, and then when I try to remove and re-add the OBS program continually crashes. This time, however, when I try to restart OBS it claims to still be running, and in Task Manager it will not let me end the process.

THIS IS URGENT. I need this problem fixed IMMEDIATELY and do not have time to wait around. I posted about this issue over two months ago and never got a response. Please help me fix this.

You most likely never got a response because you didn't post a log, as noted across the forums, and most people who help don't want to waste time with people who don't read directions (esp. in a heavy-read-requirement environment like a forum).

Also it would be useful if you posted a crashlog (since you're stating OBS is crashing).

I don't know how. I CAN tell you that OBS has crashed at least five times in the last half hour or so. Every single time it has, was after I tried to remove the video capture device from my sources.

The instructions are stickied at the top of most of the forums here and also linked in bold red when you make a new thread.

https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/please-post-a-log-with-your-issue-heres-how.23074/

Crash logs are available in %APPDATA%\obs-studio\crashes - copy the contents of a relevant crash log to a site like Pastebin or Gist and link it here.

Well, now I can't launch OBS at all. Computer keeps telling me that OBS is already running when it's not, and Task Manager will not let me end the process.

Let me see if I can at least get OBS to launch so I can access the Log Files

1. As to the issue noted in the image you posted: If something happens so that OBS can't close, and you try to open a 2nd instance you will get that message. You can either:
a. Wait until the OBS background process closes itself, or
b. Open Task Manager (ctrl-shift-esc) find the obs32/64.exe process and manually kill it.
That will take care of that message.

2. You have Window 10 CU. Please disable game mode and game DVR, and if you have any anti-virus running, please have that disable it's game mode option.

3. Get USBView from https://obsproject.com/downloads/usbview.zip to identify which hubs your devices are connected to. Move bandwidth-hungry devices like webcams and capture cards to separate [Root] hubs by switching their USB ports.

4. You didn't post a crashlog, so I can't ID what's crashing: Press WinKey+R or go to Start > Search and type %APPDATA%\obs-studio\crashes. The contents can be copied to https://gist.github.com/ and then linked here.

As a former tech support engineer in my younger days, if you called me on the telephone in the same manner expecting me to solve your situation, scream at me like you did in your title and demand I fix your problem immediately, you would get your ass hung up on!

Scream at you. Please. I was panicking because A) It was a problem I didn't know how to fix and I was afraid I did something I shouldn't have. B) That needed to be fixed the last time it happened and was never even answered.

Are you actually going to help, or just talk down to me?

Talk down to you because you deserve it and need to change your approach.

You don't go putting exclamation points in your title. That is not proper Internet etiquette on a support forum. People who do that do so to draw attention to themselves and demand that their question gets answered with higher priority than others. If every support forum in the world did this from their customers, the place would look like a screaming zoo of attention seekers. Many of those that do so are 10 year old kids. Are you a 10 year old kid? Or an adult.

You also don't boldface your post demanding people solve your problem with a sense of urgency. Everyone on here who posts a question gets equal opportunity.

This is a volunteer forum. You are using a free software package and all help is community volunteers. Nobody gets paid doing this. If someone knows the answer to your problem, they will respond.

Read that last statement several times.

Realize, not all problems are solveable. Some even take an enormous amount of time to sift through whatever information one gives to assist. We cannot help you if you don't follow the rules and provide information to solve your problem.

Did you even bother to use Search to find the answer to your problem? Always in a technical support forum, go to Google and the website's search facility to look up similar problems.

Yes, actually, I did. All coming up with the same issue of two identical camera models. Not two different ones. Also, I provided the information I had.

Now, you can either stop being so incredibly rude, or leave.

I asked for a crashlog and told you how to post it, yet you keep posting regular/usage logs from OBS. Why are you not following the directions I gave you?

Please post a crashlog if you want help on resolving your crashing issue.

Three webcams running in OBS Studio 19.0.2 with zero crashes. Two Logitech webcams of different models. The other webcam, non-Logitech and doesn't apply to this question.

Its too bad this all works for me and not for you, Op. Maybe someday you'll learn how to use proper Internet etiquette when asking a question to those who are experts willing to offer you the answer.

Except that there are no logs there. None.
