I've been using OBS for streaming and recording on my MBP. We decided to upgrade to a new MBP and I'm not getting any audio in OBS. Here is the info on the two MBPs:
Macbook Pro1 - Works with no issues
  • Model: 2017 Intel Core i5 13-inch
  • OS: High Sierra 10.13.6
  • OBS version:25.0.8 (64 bit)
Macbook Pro 2 - No audio in OSB from the USB feed from the Magewell USB capture device.
  • Model: 2020 Intel Core i9 16 inch
  • OS:Catalina 10.15.4
  • OBS version: 25.0.8

I have confirmed that audio (in general) works on the new MBP..

Setup: I have an HDMI input coming into a Magewell USB capture device and USB to the MBP. I have confirmed both MBPs see the Magewell device and all settings are the same. I have confirmed that OSB is set up exactly the same between both MBPs (including Audio settings). I have been through settings to confirm the USB source shows up under SOUND in settings when connected. The main difference is the OS. Can anyone offer some suggestions on how to get the sound working on the new MBP?

Found the issue. Since it was a new install of OBS on the new Mac, I had to go into System Preferences > Security and Privacy > Privacy and then allow OBS to have access to the Microphone. I had assumed that was just for the build in mic which won't be used with OBS. My assumption was wrong. Once I have OBS access to the microphone, the audio coming through the Magewell USB Capture device worked perfectly. Hopefully, this will help others in the future.
